Reimbursement podiatry basic insurance

Podiatry is covered by basic health insurance if medically necessary care is required to prevent foot ulcers. This may apply to people with diabetes and to those with a diagnosed increased risk of foot ulcers. The podiatrist will assess whether you are eligible for reimbursement. In doing so, the podiatrist follows national guidelines and the agreements with your health insurer.

If your treatment is covered by basic health insurance, you will not have to pay any excess.

No increased risk of foot ulcers?

Has the podiatrist not identified an increased risk of foot injuries? If not, you may be eligible for reimbursement under your supplementary health insurance.

  • Reimbursement basic insurance for chiropody care

Pedicure treatments are covered by basic health insurance if medically necessary care is required to prevent foot ulcers. This may apply to people with diabetes and to those with a diagnosed increased risk of foot ulcers. To determine whether you are eligible for reimbursement under the basic health insurance scheme, you must first make an appointment with a podiatrist. Your GP can refer you for this.

The podiatrist will assess whether you are eligible for reimbursement. In doing so, the podiatrist will follow the national guidelines and the agreements with your health insurer.

The podiatrist also updates your personal treatment plan every year. This treatment plan sets out the care you will receive from the podiatrist that year and the treatments carried out by the medical pedicurist.

Only medically necessary treatments required to prevent foot ulcers are covered by basic health insurance. You do not pay any excess for this care.
