Foot care for cancer patients

Rondom Pedicures offers specialised foot care to people who are undergoing or have undergone cancer treatment. Cancer treatment can affect the condition of the skin and nails on your feet. That is why it is important to look after your feet properly and to spot any changes in good time.

A medical pedicurist helps to keep your feet in the best possible condition. We check your feet regularly and look out for any changes. In this way, we help to prevent damage to the skin as much as possible.

Foot care for cancer patients
  • What do we offer?

    Our medical pedicurists provide foot care tailored to people who are undergoing or have undergone cancer treatment. The treatment is always adapted to your health, the stage of your treatment and the condition of your feet.

    Depending on your situation, treatment may consist of:

    • the treatment of calluses, cracked skin and pressure sores;
    • the treatment of nail problems;
    • checking your skin and nails for changes;
    • advice on daily foot care and suitable footwear;
    • guidance on keeping your feet in the best possible condition during and after cancer treatment.

    During some oncological treatments, instrumental treatment is not always possible. In such cases, the medical pedicurist will consult with your podiatrist. The podiatrist will then liaise with your treating doctor or specialist.

  • Who is this offer intended for?

    Foot care for cancer patients is intended for people who are undergoing or have undergone cancer treatment and need extra care for their feet.

    A medical pedicurist can help you if you:

    • is receiving or has received chemotherapy or targeted therapy;
    • if you notice any changes to your skin or nails;
    • suffers from calluses, cracks or pressure sores;
    • suffers from sensitive or dry skin;
    • if you would like to have your feet checked as a preventative measure during your course of treatment;
    • if you want to keep your feet as healthy as possible during or after your treatment.

    Are you eligible for medical foot care? If so, the medical pedicurist will carry out the treatments in accordance with your podiatrist’s treatment plan.

  • What can you expect?

    During your first appointment, we will discuss the progress of your cancer treatment, your symptoms and the condition of your feet. This will enable us to determine what foot care is safe and appropriate at that time.

    In any case, you can count on:

    • treatment that is tailored to your medical condition;
    • regular checks of the skin, nails and pressure sores;
    • focus on preventing damage to the skin;
    • practical advice on daily foot care;
    • consult your podiatrist when necessary.

    Foot care for cancer patients
  • Collaboration with other healthcare providers

    During cancer treatment, several healthcare professionals may be involved. Our medical pedicurists therefore work closely with the podiatrist where necessary. The podiatrist maintains contact with your treating doctor or specialist when coordination is required.

  • Consent during oncological treatment

    Are you undergoing cancer treatment that affects your immune system? In that case, we can only provide foot care with a referral or written consent from your oncologist or oncology nurse. You can request a consent form from us for this purpose.

  • Costs and reimbursement

    Chiropody care for cancer patients is sometimes covered by your supplementary insurance. The level of cover you are entitled to depends on your health insurer and the policy you have taken out.

    Are you eligible for medical foot care under your basic health insurance? If so, the treatments included in your podiatrist’s treatment plan will be fully reimbursed.

    Would you also like a full foot treatment, such as having your nails cut or a full foot care treatment?

    See our price guide for the current rates. Would you like to know more about reimbursements? Then click here.

    • That depends on your situation and your health insurance. In some cases, reimbursement under supplementary insurance may be possible. Are you eligible for medical foot care? If so, reimbursement under the basic insurance scheme may be possible.

    • The medical pedicurist checks, amongst other things, your skin, nails and pressure points, and looks out for any changes that may arise as a result of the treatment. This allows any complaints to be identified at an early stage and ensures that foot care can be tailored accordingly.
