    • Is psychological care covered by insurance?

Whether healthcare is reimbursed depends on your age, the nature of your care needs, your insurance and the type of care you receive. For information on costs and reimbursements, please refer to the website of OnsPsychologie en Daadkracht Psychology. Always check your policy or call your health insurer to find out exactly what you are entitled to be reimbursed for.

Does your care request relate to youth care? If so, the costs are usually reimbursed by the local authority.

    • Do I have to pay an excess?

An excess may apply to psychological care for adults. This depends on the level of cover and your personal circumstances.

    • What happens if my treatment is not covered?

If healthcare is not covered by insurance, we will discuss in advance what options are available and the associated costs.

    • Is adult psychology suitable for my specific needs?

Adult psychology may be appropriate if mental health issues or recurring patterns are affecting your daily life.

    • Do I need a referral for psychological care?

That depends on your situation and your cover. We’d be happy to discuss this with you.

    • What happens during an initial consultation?

During the initial consultation, we will discuss your situation, symptoms, goals and expectations. Together, we will explore what support is most appropriate.

    • How do I know if diagnostic tests are needed?

Diagnostics can help if you wish to gain a better understanding of symptoms, patterns or factors that affect your functioning.

    • How long does a course of treatment take on average?

That varies from person to person and depending on the nature of the support required. We will discuss in advance what is appropriate and feasible.

    • Can my treatment be adjusted if my circumstances change?

Yes. Throughout the process, we regularly assess how things are going and whether the support still meets your needs.

    • How do I know if youth psychology is right for me?

Adolescent psychology can help if you find yourself feeling stuck, worrying a lot, not feeling well in your own skin, or facing difficulties at school, at home or in your relationships with others.

    • What happens at the first appointment?

During your first appointment, we’ll discuss what’s going on and what you’d like help with. Together, we’ll look at what support might be suitable.

    • Will I be involved in decisions throughout the process?

Yes. We believe it is important that you contribute your ideas and have a say in the goals and next steps. From the age of 12, we do this together with you and your parent(s) or carer(s). From the age of 16, you decide on your own treatment.

    • Can my parents or carers be involved in my care?

That’s possible. How this looks depends on your age, situation and what’s helpful.

    • When is research worthwhile?

An assessment can help if you want to gain a better understanding of the situation or if it is not yet clear what type of support is most appropriate.

    • Is everything I say confidential?

We treat everything you discuss in confidence. During the process, we will explain the relevant arrangements and when information may be shared.

    • How do I know if psychological support is appropriate for my child?

Psychological support may be appropriate if your child is struggling with their development, behaviour, emotions or day-to-day functioning. During an initial consultation, we will work together to assess what is needed.

    • What happens during an initial appointment?

During the first appointment, we will discuss your child’s situation, your questions and what you would like to achieve, together with you and your child. We will look at what support might be appropriate.

    • Are parents involved in the process?

Yes. In child psychology, parents or carers play an important role. We work together to determine what form that involvement takes.

    • How are paediatric trials conducted?

Research often consists of interviews, observations and, in some cases, additional questionnaires or tests. We explain in advance what is required and why.

    • Can the school be involved in providing support?

This can be done where it is helpful and where parents give their consent. Sometimes, liaising with the school helps to get a more complete picture. We involve the school as much as possible, but always in consultation with the parent(s).

    • When is diagnostic testing appropriate for my child?

Diagnostics can help when there is a need for greater insight into development and the (nature of) behaviour, emotions or factors that influence day-to-day functioning.
