Paediatric Podiatry
Children are constantly growing and developing. As a result, their feet, posture and the way they move also change. Sometimes certain behaviour is a normal part of development, but sometimes, as a parent, you may notice that your child is experiencing symptoms or moving differently from their peers.
Perhaps your child often trips, complains of pain in their feet or legs, or you’ve noticed that walking, playing or doing sport isn’t as easy for them as it used to be. Through paediatric podiatry, we work together to assess what is appropriate for your child’s development and what support is needed.

What do we offer?
Paediatric podiatry focuses on foot and mobility issues in children. As children are still growing, we do not just look at the problem itself, but also at their development, posture and physical strain.
During an examination, for example, we look at:
- the position of the feet and legs;
- the way of standing and walking;
- exercise during daily activities and sport;
- growth and development.
Depending on the situation, the care we provide may consist of assessment, advice, guidance and other forms of support suited to your child’s needs.
Who is this offer intended for?
Paediatric podiatry may be appropriate if your child:
- often stumbles or falls;
- does not like walking or gets tired quickly when exercising;
- has pain in their feet, legs or heels;
- things may turn out differently than you expect;
- experiences symptoms whilst playing sport or playing;
- has an abnormal position of the feet, toes or legs;
- wears out shoes quickly;
- has symptoms that recur or do not fit in with their development.
What can you expect?
An appointment with a paediatric podiatrist begins with a discussion about your child’s development, symptoms and daily activities. We take the time to discuss your questions and assess what is appropriate for your child’s age and situation.
During the assessment, we look, for example, at standing, walking, moving and the development of the feet and legs. We always explain what we are doing and why, so that you and your child know what to expect.
In any case, you can count on:
- personal attention to your child and your queries;
- an approach tailored to your child’s age, development and daily activities;
- clear explanations and practical advice for home, school, sport or play;
- collaboration with other healthcare providers from Rondom where this adds value.
Not sure whether you need an appointment? If so, you can also make use of our free walk-in consultation hours for children. During these short sessions, we’ll take a look at your child, answer any questions and offer advice.

Collaboration with other healthcare providers
A child’s development happens quickly and affects the whole body. That is why our podiatrists work alongside other healthcare professionals at Rondom where necessary.
Depending on the situation, this could be, for example, a (paediatric) physiotherapist, an occupational therapist or another healthcare professional. By looking together at development, movement and daily activities, we provide support that is tailored to your child.
Costs and reimbursement
Paediatric podiatry falls under the umbrella of podiatry. In many cases, podiatry is (partly) covered by supplementary insurance.
The cover you are entitled to depends on your circumstances and your health insurance policy. You should therefore always check your policy terms and conditions or contact your health insurer.
