What is your orthosis for?
Orthoses can reduce or prevent pain in the forefoot and toes. The orthoses are made on the basis of a podiatric assessment carried out by a podiatrist. The orthoses are made to measure for you.
What does the orthosis do for you?
Depending on your condition, orthoses can help with:
- Correcting toe alignment;
- Pain relief for the toes and forefoot;
- Better pressure distribution under the foot;
- Preventing foot problems. Or you?
How do you use the orthosis?
Start using the orthosis as follows:
- Place the orthosis on the correct foot and around the correct toes. Do this in the same way as the podiatrist has demonstrated;
- The orthosis is made to measure for you. It cannot therefore be used by anyone else;
- When using the orthosis, wear socks as much as possible. This helps the orthosis to stay in place better.
Are you unsure whether you are using the orthosis correctly? If so, please contact us on 088-1180500.
Important points to bear in mind when getting used to wearing your orthosis:
- Check your feet regularly for pressure sores. If you notice any, contact your podiatrist immediately;
- If you notice that you are experiencing more or different symptoms, please contact our office on 088-1180500.
Fitting and wearing an orthosis
You should gradually get used to wearing the insoles. Ultimately, the aim is for you to be able to wear the insoles for 6 to 8 hours a day and to have them in your shoes 5 to 7 days a week.
How you break in the insoles varies from person to person. You can see break-in schedules below. These are guidelines; you may deviate from them in consultation with your podiatrist. You may exercise whilst wearing podiatric insoles if your podiatrist has indicated that you can use them for this purpose. Always break in the insoles first according to your break-in schedule. You may then use the insoles whilst exercising, if required.
