Diabetes podiatry
Diabetes can affect your feet. Sometimes you may not notice much, even though there are changes in sensation, strain or the condition of your feet. Other people, however, experience symptoms whilst walking or notice changes to their skin or nails.
Through diabetic podiatry, we help to identify foot problems at an early stage and reduce risks. This enables you to continue exercising comfortably and safely. In doing so, we look not only at the symptoms you are currently experiencing, but also at keeping your feet healthy in the long term.

What do we offer?
Diabetes podiatry focuses on the assessment, management and, where possible, prevention of foot problems in people with diabetes.
Diabetes can reduce sensation and blood flow in your feet. As a result, you may be less likely to notice pressure sores or minor wounds. That is why we look not only at your symptoms, but also at factors that increase the risk of foot problems.
Depending on your situation, support may include, for example:
- research into the health and strain on your feet;
- assessment of risk factors for foot problems by testing sensation in your feet and checking blood circulation;
- advice on daily foot care;
- support for those experiencing discomfort whilst walking or standing;
- support aimed at preventing pressure sores and minor wounds;
- a personalised treatment plan tailored to your situation.
The type of support that is appropriate varies from person to person.
Who is this offer intended for?
Diabetes podiatry may be appropriate if you:
- have diabetes and would like to have your feet checked;
- you notice that you have less sensation in your feet;
- experiences pressure sores, minor wounds or changes to the skin;
- notices that walking is becoming less comfortable;
- has questions about foot care for people with diabetes;
- has had foot problems in the past;
- is seeking support to prevent foot problems.
Even if you have no symptoms, having your feet checked can be beneficial in some situations. The podiatrist will assess with you whether further care is required.
What can you expect?
We’ll start with a discussion about your health, your daily activities and any changes you’ve noticed in your feet.
We will then examine, amongst other things, the condition of your feet, sensation, blood circulation, strain and other factors that may affect healthy movement. Based on this, we will determine what support is appropriate and whether additional foot care is required.
In any case, you can count on:
- personalised care tailored to your situation and your daily life with diabetes;
- an approach tailored to your risks, goals and day-to-day functioning;
- clear explanations and practical advice on foot care;
- focus on the early detection and prevention of foot problems;
- collaboration with other healthcare providers from Rondom where this adds value.
