Prevention of wounds

As a result of rheumatism, for example, lumps or thin skin may be present. These factors increase the risk of wound formation.

Symptoms may include pain and/or redness on intact skin.

The treatment involves identifying the cause of the pressure and friction at the affected site. In addition, the treatment will involve reducing or eliminating this pressure and friction by applying an anti-pressure bandage (felt), fitting an orthosis (toe guard), fitting podiatric insoles and providing advice on footwear.

The expected outcome varies from person to person. This depends on your use of medication, the occurrence of any complications, the progression of your rheumatism and your general state of health.
