Dislocated toes

As a result of hypermobility or instability in the forefoot, a toe joint may occasionally become dislocated. If you experience pain when rolling your foot forward or if the position of the joints has changed, it is important to make an appointment with a podiatrist.

Where possible, the misalignment will be corrected using taping, (silicone) orthoses or corrective podiatric insoles. All of this is aimed at alleviating the symptoms.

If these symptoms have arisen following a trauma, the outcome will be good; however, if there is chronic (partial) dislocation, the outcome will be less favourable. In the case of a hammer toe, a reduction in symptoms is achieved, but only a moderate improvement in the alignment.
