Treatment without a referral
At Rondom Podotherapeuten, you can book an appointment directly with a podiatrist. You do not need a referral from your GP or medical specialist to do so. We call this direct access to podiatry (DTP).

How does treatment without a referral work?
If you come to see us without a referral, your first appointment will begin with a brief assessment. The podiatrist will discuss your symptoms and assess whether podiatry is appropriate for your situation.
During this screening, we will be looking at, amongst other things:
- your complaint and the progression of your symptoms;
- your health and any medical conditions;
- signs that may indicate a different or underlying cause of your symptoms;
- whether podiatry is the right treatment for you at that time.
The screening
The screening forms part of the initial assessment and takes place during the consultation and examination. In most cases, treatment can begin straight away. If another healthcare provider is better placed to help, we will work with you to identify a suitable next step.
