Occupational therapy is covered by basic health insurance for a maximum of 10 treatment hours per calendar year.

We have contracts with all health insurers in the Netherlands. This means we process claims for reimbursable healthcare straight away in accordance with your health insurer’s policy terms and conditions.

Excess

The statutory excess applies to care covered by basic health insurance. This excess also applies to occupational therapy. For 2026, the statutory excess has been set at a minimum of 385 euros.

Supplementary health insurance often covers a number of extra treatment hours per calendar year. The number of hours varies depending on the insurer and the supplementary package. For example, this could be 2, 5 or 10 extra hours.

Amount of your reimbursement

The amount of the supplementary allowance varies depending on the health insurer:

• Some insurers operate with a maximum number of treatment hours;
• Some insurers operate with an annual maximum amount.

Excess and personal contribution

When claiming reimbursement under supplementary insurance, it is advisable to bear the following in mind:

• No excess applies to reimbursements under supplementary insurance;
• There is no statutory personal contribution for occupational therapy;
• Are the costs higher than the amount or the number of hours covered by your insurance? If so, you will have to pay the remaining amount yourself.

Have you used up your reimbursed hours for occupational therapy? And do you no longer have any supplementary cover? If so, you will have to pay for any follow-up treatment yourself.

The following rates apply for 2026:

• €23.50 per quarter of an hour of treatment time;
• a surcharge of €45 per home visit or workplace visit.
