More about me

What is your role and what gives you energy in your work?

Orthopaedic shoemaker, trainee/student podiatrist

What is your favourite quote, motto or tip to help people get through life more easily?

"Enjoy today. Do it again tomorrow."

How can you tell from your work that it really suits you?

I’ve realised that this job really suits me because I feel at home within the organisation and the work comes naturally to me. Given my background as an orthopaedic shoemaker, the podiatry course ties in nicely with what I’m already capable of and find interesting. During my placements, I’ve got to know lots of colleagues and I feel welcome everywhere I go. The friendly atmosphere, the contact with people and the feeling that I can continue to develop myself are all confirming more and more that this is the right path for me.

What do you do outside work that people might not expect of you?

Outside of work, I enjoy being active and social. I played football for over 25 years, but due to injuries I’ve switched to padel. I also enjoy board games, pub quizzes, listening to music, cooking and good food. I also love travelling the world to discover new countries and cultures.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I’m usually quite competitive, whether it’s padel, a board game or a pub quiz. Taking part is fun, but winning is secretly just that bit more fun.
