HOMELAND Academic Centre

Rondom is affiliated with the HOMELAND Academic Practice as a network partner. Within this partnership, healthcare providers, researchers and practice partners work together to improve the provision of assistive devices for people at increased risk of foot problems.

Within this partnership, particular attention is paid to people with:

  • Diabetes;
  • Reduced sensation in the feet;
  • Chronic foot ulcers;
  • An increased risk of foot problems.

Collaboration in practice

This collaboration involves practice-oriented research into improved provision of medical aids, as well as into new applications that reduce pressure on the feet. Examples include medical aids that help prevent the formation of wounds, or devices that provide better protection for the feet in everyday life.

We are looking at solutions that can be used effectively at home. For example, pressure-relieving aids and the identification of high-risk foot problems. Regular monitoring of foot health is also part of this.

Results for healthcare

The strength of this collaboration lies in the link between science and practice. This enables new knowledge to be applied more quickly in the care of people at increased risk of foot problems.

In this way, we help to prevent the formation of wounds and amputations. It also helps to keep healthcare costs down and to keep people active for as long as possible. Furthermore, this collaboration contributes to care that is better suited to the client’s everyday life.

Together with Academische Werkplaats HOMELAND, we are working step by step towards future-proof and people-centred foot care.
