Ingrown toenail

An overgrown nail (onychogryphosis) is a nail that is very long and thick. The nail often grows crooked and may be the result of a fungal nail infection and/or vascular abnormalities. It is a condition that is common amongst older people.

It mainly causes pain at the edges of the nails.

The treatment involves thinning or filing the nail and, if necessary, a referral to a chiropodist for nail care.
