Diabetes foot check app

People with diabetes are at increased risk of developing sores on their feet, and even a small sore can quickly have serious consequences. When, in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic suddenly made it very difficult to visit the surgery, we had to act quickly to be able to help our patients remotely.

In order to continue providing that direct care, we then worked together with the developers of Dust-free de Diabetes Foot Check app developed. With this simple tool, patients can not only keep a close eye on their own feet whilst we monitor them remotely via photographs, but they also learn more about their own foot health straight away through handy educational videos.

As healthcare professionals, you naturally want to properly investigate how such an app affects patients and practitioners in day-to-day practice. That is why, together with Fontys Paramedical launched an investigation.

Through this research project, we have gained valuable insights into how patients and podiatrists experience the app, how it affects their self-confidence, and whether it actually brings them greater peace of mind.

We are very proud to announce that this official evaluation study of the app has now been published by JMIR Publications! Curious about the results and the impact of this digital healthcare solution? Read the full article here.
